Dear Parents/Carers
What a busy few months it’s been at Eagley School House Nurseries, here is a taster of just some of the activities we have all been involved with!
In September the Nursery held a Coffee Morning to raise money in support of Macmillian cancer. During our Coffee morning we also had a visit from the Oral health team, who gave our “healthy” cakes the thumbs up. We celebrated Diwali, Remembrance Day and had fun raising money for Children In Need. We also had fun dressing up for Halloween and talking about bonfire night.
Parents/Carers engaged with us in the Parent/Carer of the term event which was all about raising awareness for healthy diets and exercise for our children and supported our application for a BHEYS healthy eating award. Look out for our next Parent/Carer of the term event in the New Year. Thanks to all those who took part!
On a more serious note, as a result of a terrible tragedy involving the death of a two year old child choking on a grape during a family visit to a restaurant, Eagley School House Nurseries reassured parents regarding our safe food preparation/cooking at Nursery. Following on from this we then offered parents/carers an opportunity to attend a Paediatric First Aid Course at Eagley School House Nursery. The response from you was really encouraging and we are now in the process of confirming a date which will be sometime in January 2016. We will keep you updated as soon as we can.
We have been busy improving our links with the local primary schools in the area. After visiting some of the schools we have now organised joint moderation meetings with primary school teachers and these will be taking place at the Nursery during January of next year. The meetings will go a long way in making sure that the school has as much accurate information about your child which will ensure your child settles quickly when they start “Big School”.
Just a few house keeping points: Please can you make sure that we have your latest contact details and emergency contact information, together with your email addresses for our records at Nursery.
Please do not take your child into their Nursery Room BEFORE 8.00 am unless you have previously booked an EARLY START in advance with a staff member in the room. An early start is from 7.45 am (at an additional cost of £1.00. for the session).
Child ratios/staffing arrangements have to be made on a daily basis in each of the Nursery rooms and if children are arriving earlier than expected this causes staffing/ratio problems. Thank you for your co-operation.
As we are all aware CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This year we are supporting a Charity called “Forever Angels”. Each Christmas the Nursery takes part in the Christmas Tree Decoration festival held at the Village Hall, Bromley Cross. We will be decorating our Christmas tree with kind messages provided by the parents and children in our Pre-School Room. We also asked our parents to donate a small toy (such as a teddy) or an item of clothing, and these will all be sent to orphaned, abandoned, sick and poverty stricken children in Tanzania via the Charity “FOREVER ANGELS“. There is still time to contribute if you haven’t already. I would like to thank you so much for your kind support at this very busy time of the year!
Our Pre-School Christmas Carol Service this year is being held at the Cornerstone Church, Lord’s Style Lane, with the Pre-School Christmas party at Fidgets. Everyone is welcome to come see Santa’s Reindeers at Nursery, and this year we are just asking parents to ensure that their child has appropriate footwear. The Nursery will be closing its doors for Christmas on Friday, 18th December 2015, re-opening on Monday 4th January 2016.
I am sure that you all have those important dates logged in your diary, but just in case you have missed anything there is a copy of our Christmas Calendar available on our Facebook Page, website, as well as copies in Nursery.
During this worrying time it just remains for me to wish everyone a peaceful and happy Christmas, and once again I would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank all our parents/carers who take the time to engage with us in helping to enrich the learning environment we strive to provide to the children at all times. We know just how busy you are, so thank you once again for your kind support!
WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR
FROM JULIE ROBINSON, PROPRIETOR, AND ALL THE STAFF!
