Sharon Walton is the new Manager based at Eagley School House Nursery 2 but she also works closely with Julie Robinson across both sites to ensure that quality is at the forefront of both settings, and that this is consistent. We also have some new team members in both of our nurseries – please see the notice board for any staff changes and photographs of the team.
Sharon has recently been delivering Communication Training for staff working in the baby room/ toddler rooms across both nurseries and already strategies have started to be introduced within the rooms to support our children’s communication development further. The Management team have also attended First aid at work training, and since this training our Business Manager Janet has worked hard to review our current systems relating to COSHH.
Sharon and Julie as Early Years Professionals have continued to be active members of Bolton’s Alliance for Early Years Professionals, Julie being the previous chair and now vice Chair and Sharon being an active committee member. We are hoping to deliver our first EYP conference later this year delivering workshops to support other childcare providers in Bolton in which Julie and Sharon are both delivering workshops for staff from setting across Bolton.
We have also enrolled on a “Quality Healthy Eating Award” which is being rolled out by Bolton Council. We will be assessed in 5 categories including how we support our children to stay healthy and the menu’s we provide for the children. We are hoping to hold some workshops for parents linked to this also in the near future.
Sharon, Julie and our Business Manager Janet Fitzpatrick have also attended Safer Recruitment training at level 1 and 2 with Bolton council, and we are due to complete a Level 3 in this training this summer which will help us to continue to work hard to ensure our recruitment systems are of the highest quality so that we continue to safeguard all the children effectively within the setting.
In May this year we also re launched our pre-school home book packs for parents to share with their children at home linking to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and supporting children to focus on the skills needed for school readiness.
We have also launched our new Facebook site, which has a link to our website, so please like our page as we will be regularly updating our status to share what’s going on in nursery. Please sign your permission slips in the room to allow photos/articles of your children on the site.
Did you know at Nursery 2 we have an allocated parent’s room on site? We have recently re-vamped this room and we put lots of information in the room that parents may be interested in so please take a look it is facing our baby room. Both Nursery parents are welcome to use the room for short meetings or parents’ sessions etc.
Also just a reminder we have a suggestion/comments box in our Reception area’s which we invite you to use to make any suggestions about how we can make things better within the Nursery or if you have any ideas on how we can improve our services.
We are always investing in new ideas and projects that will support our children’s development and we are currently working on developing our own Bug Hotel in our garden areas at both sites. This will support the children to learn and explore all about the natural world and develop their understanding in this area.
It’s always a sad time during this part of the year as we prepare to say goodbye to all our school leavers. They have been working hard practicing the Graduation concert, and we are immensely proud of them all! We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all the school leavers all the best in their new venture to big school and wish you all every success for the future.
Finally, please feel free to contact Sharon or Julie at any time if you would like a chat, or if you would to discuss anything relating to nursery practice.
Please keep attending Shake rattle and roll it’s a free music session for all parents and children.
